About us
Home For The Needy was established in 1992 by Solomon A. Folorunsho in Benin City, Nigeria in order to help the needy in the society like orphans, street children, children from broken homes or poor families, widows and internally displaced persons.
Today we care for more than 4,500 needy. Most of them are children and widows from the North East of Nigeria, who have lost their parents and their homes through the terror group Boko Haram.
Mission
We provide the needy with accommodation, food, clothes, primary health care and quality education at our school, which
includes nursery, primary and secondary school.
After graduation we help the students to reach university level. Those who cannot go to university we give the
opportunity to learn a trade like tailoring, carpentry or different handiworks.
We also render emotional, moral and social support, especially to those who were victims of abuse and violence in the past.
Vision and aims
Our vision is to bring people out of suffering, poverty, helplessness and hopelessness, offer them education and enable them to have a better life and a good future.
Our aims are:
1. To give refuge to the vulnerable like orphans, street children, handicapped, weak, sick, widows and refugees
2. To provide houses, schools, sanitary facilities, water supply etc. for the needy
3. To offer training for technical and mechanical skills, in tailoring, carpentry, handicrafts etc.
4. To provide food, clothes and other daily necessities. To provide for the needy through farming and livestock breeding
5. Health care, i.e. by having our own hospital, through vaccination programmes, preventive check-ups, care for those infected with HIV, cholera etc.
